M. Zulaica y Cia., Eibar, Spain. began manufacturing 'Velo-Dog' type pocket revolvers in the early 1900s. In 1905, Zulaica patented an unusual automatic revolver design, the Zulaica Automatic Revolver becoming the result.
The Zulaica Automatic Revolver was never manufactured in great numbers and the majority of those did not survive particularly well. This was largely due to the fact that Zulaica started manufacturing 'Eibar' type automatic pistols under French army contracts in 1915, which were continued to be produced and marketed commercially up through the 1920s).
