Added by BobafettH23The wheel mechanism in the wheellock, was the main centerpoint for igniting the charge in wheellock rifles and pistols. It was one of the most tedious parts in the wheellock mechanism since, every so often the springs (the older types) that were connected to the wheel inside the lock would have to be adjusted. While the wheellock was being loaded, the wheel would be wound-up by the wielder with a special key, so it would spin against the hammer containing flint upon pulling the trigger. It was later improved upon by putting in more durable springs.
