Design Edit

The Type 53 is a copy of the Russian Mosin-Nagant. The rifle was used by the Chinese army from 1953 to the 1970s. The reason why China used the Mosin-Nagant copy, is because China were associated with the Soviet Union and other communist countries during the Cold War and they used Soviet-designed weapons.

Combat history Edit

China used the Type 53 during the 1953 Korean War and the 1966-1976 Cultural Revolution.

The Type 53 was seen in action during the 1955-1975 Vietnam War by the North Vietnamese Army because the Chinese and the Soviets supported North Vietnam with Type 53s and Mosin-Nagants.

Also in the 1998-1999 Kosovo War, the Kosovo Liberation Army used Type 53s against the Yugoslavian army because the Albanians supported the Kosovo Liberation Army with their weapons and Albania was supported by China and other communist countries during the Cold War.
