Trigger (mechanism)

From Gunpedia

The trigger, (in firing mechanisms) is a switch that is pulled near the gun's handle, that is what activates the mechanisms that fire the bullet in a gun. In older guns, such as the caplock, the trigger would release the hammer to hit the percussion cap, which would activate the charge. In some guns, the trigger is protected by what is called a trigger guard, which loops under the trigger, to prevent accidental discharge.
