The Tower Percussion Pistol was a percussion weapon produced by the Tower of London Armories.
The Tower Percussion Pistol dates back to the 1840s. Many were used by coastguards and Royal Navy personnel. It saw service in the Crimean War and later conflicts, such as the American Civil War. The advent of the revolver made pistols such as this somewhat redundant, and by the late 1850s it started to fall out of favour due to the increasing popularity of percussion revolvers, although examples continued to be produced into the early 1870s.
