The Tao (Georgian: ავტომატ ტაო-ს Avt’omat’ T’ao-s) is a Georgian submachine gun.
The Tao was designed in the early 2000s by Georgian engineers. It was a hand-made gun made from spare parts of existing weapons. The designers were later employed by a Georgian armory, STC Delta.
The Tao is a blowback-operated submachine gun. It is a bullpup 9×19mm conversion of the Kalashnikov rifle, with external modifications including a short wooden butt and redesigned handguard. The bolt is attached to a long arm that rests in the AK gas piston over the barrel. The muzzle has a four-slot compensator. The rear sight is an adjustable diopter sight.
