The TKB-486 is a prototype Soviet submachine gun.

History

The TKB-486 was designed in 1955 by Igor Stechkin of TKB-0146 and Stechkin automatic pistol fame. The weapon was the first submachine gun to use the 9x18mm Makarov round. It fired at 550 RPM and had admirable accuracy for its time.

Design Details

The TKB-486 is a simple submachine gun that uses blowback to fire. The weapon has a foldable magazine similar to the Danuvia submachine gun and SIG MKMO, where the magazine folds up ninety degrees to allow for a more compact package.
