The SOLA Super was a Luxembourgish submachine gun produced by Société Luxembourgeoise d'Armes (SOLA).

History[]

The SOLA Super was designed by Stefan Janson and produced in Luxembourg. In the mid-1950s many of these guns were smuggled into North Africa and sold to Algerian rebels. Production ceased in 1960 when SOLA shifted their business focus from the manufacture of arms to the production of plastic.

Design[]

The SOLA Super was a cheap blowback-operated submachine gun that fired from an open bolt, based on the Sten. It was made to a relatively low standard and is known to have become unreliable after excessive usage.
