Selectiv fire drawing

A diagram of a select-fire capable weapon, in this case, an AR-15.

A select-fire weapon is defined as a weapon being capable of more than one mode of fire usually consisting of SAFE, SEMI (semi-automatic), and AUTO (fully automatic).

Less commonly, some weapons are also capable of burst fire, which is a form of automatic fire that is typically mechanically limited to 2 or 3 rounds.
