The RShG-1 (Реактивная Штурмовая Граната, Reaktivnaya Shturmovaya Granata, Rocket-propelled assault grenade weapon) Tavolga-1 (Таволга-1) is a Russian rocket launcher.
The RShG-1 is a development of the older RPG-27 Tavolga rocket launcher.
The RShG-1 is very similar to the RPG-27 in terms of looks and function, with one major difference; the RShG-1 uses a thermobaric warhead as opposed to a normal high-explosive warhead. This change in the weapon's warhead allows the weapon to have a slightly higher lethality due to the thermobaric fuel. The launch tube is made of fiberglass. Two covers cover the front and rear of the weapon when not in use, and are removed when ready for firing; similar to the M72 LAW and similar weapons, the RShG-1 is extended when being prepared for firing.
The RShG-1 uses an unnamed 105mm thermobaric warhead. The warhead contains 1.9 kilograms (4.19 pounds) of thermobaric mixture, with an explosive yield roughly equal to that of 8 kilograms (17.6 pounds) of TNT.
