The 9mm Cugir RATMIL submachine gun is a more or less modern weapon, manufactured by the Romanian company Uzina Mecanica Cugir SA. It is apparently in use in Romania, and is offered for export.
Cugir submachine gun is a simple blowback weapon, firing from closed bolt in full automatic and semi-auto. It features a stamped steel, full size AK receiver and short 7.1 inch barrel with a slotted cooling jacket and muzzle compensator at the front. The manual safety / fire mode selector is the same as the Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle. Weapon is fitted with side-folding metallic buttstock and a polymer furniture (pistol grip and short forend). Iron sights consist of the L-shaped flip-up rear (marked for 50 and 100 meters) and protected front sight. It is 42.7 cm (16.8 inches) total length stock closed. 65.0 cm (25.6 inches) stock open. It weighs 6.83 lb with a loaded 30 round Magazine.
