A Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun.

A pump action firearm is a weapon which is manually cycled via the slide assembly (positioned underneath the barrel) after each time it is fired to eject the spent casing and chamber another round.

When used on a rifle, it is often referred to as a slide action.
