The FN Mk 48 Mod 0 is a general purpose machine gun developed by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal. The Mk 48 is a scaled up version of the Mk 46 Mod 0, using the larger 7.62mm NATO round, and it was designed for U.S. special operations forces to replace the M60E4. It is much lighter than the M240. The MK 48's design was based on the FN Minimi.
