The KARD is a prototype pistol from KRISS Systems, which also made the Vector, boasting a fixed-barrel, and has a weight that tilts downward during recoil, which lessens the kickback.

History

The KARD was designed by KRISS around 2010, but the patent for its delayed blowback system was only filed in February 2016 after a six year delay.

Design details

The KARD uses a modified version of the Vector's vector delayed blowback system, in which it has a fixed barrel as opposed to a tilting barrel as seen on most pistols; this also makes it more accurate and much easier for one to install suppressors or muzzle attachments on it. The KARD lacks a moving slide, and instead has a T-shaped cocking handle on the rear of the weapon. As the pistol lacks a moving slide, optics can easily be attached on the weapon.

Trivia

  • The KARD is notable for appearing in the game Call of Duty: Black Ops II as the KAP-40, a somewhat heavily futurized version of the KARD with the Vector's bolt release catch on the side.
