The K6-92 (Armenian: Կ6-92) is an Armenian submachine gun designed in the 1990s.

History[]

The K6-92 was a simple submachine gun designed at Garni-ler[1] in 1991 as a cheap and inexpensive weapon to solve the problem of a shortage of military arms in Armenia after the country gained its independence.[2] The K6-92 was adopted by the Armenian Army in the 1990s and remains in service.

Borz[]

A local copy of the K6-92 known as the "Borz" ("Wolf") was produced in Chechnya during the mid-1990s. It was allegedly manufactured for a short time at a Krasny Molot plant in Grozny. Although the original Borz was a direct clone of the K6-92, the name has since been used to refer to any improvised or workshop-made Chechen submachine guns, regardless of function or appearance.

Design[]

The K6-92 is a basic blowback submachine gun that fires from an open bolt. The weapon is largely made from inexpensive steel stampings. The cocking handle is a retracting nut located over the top of the receiver. The barrel has six right-hand grooves to act as rifling. A folding stock is standard on standard models but is absent on compact versions.

Variants[]

K6-M
