A jacketed hollow point projectile is a projectile in which the tip is hollowed out, exposing the lead, and the rest of the bullet jacketed (usually copper). These projectiles are generally designed to expand, with the individual "petals" cutting and producing a more severe wound.

Non-bonded designs are prone to fragmentation after penetration.
