What is Gunpedia?
Gunpedia is an encyclopedia of guns meant for you to access the information and history of various guns throughout history. It is meant to document the most infamous (or not) guns of periods ranging from the 1450's to the 1700's, and to the 1800's to the 1950's, as well as the politics, safety and organizations surrounding them. Feel free to edit our articles to expand them and to improve on the factual accuracy of the articles. Create them if you wish. This wiki was created by Jocke Pirat for the enjoyment of gun nostalgists everywhere. Whether you own one or a whole collection of guns, you can probably take a trip down memory lane. Every article is checked for historical and factual accuracy by our small team of administrators as well as various users that like to help contribute.
So what defines a Gun?
On this wiki, a gun is defined as any firearm that is capable of being operated directly by a human hand with a caliber smaller than an artillery shell. This means Gunpedia should not include any articles that are relating to things such as rockets, grenades, artillery, et cetera. Such articles should be promptly deleted. Weapons that are fictional or have not implemented to a size that is humanly operable (ie phasers, laser weapons, et cetera) are also not fit for this wiki. Nerf and water guns are also not fit article types for this wiki either.
Why are there two names?
Originally when this wiki was proposed as Gunpedia, however when it was setup it was named Gun Wiki. This is why we have two different names. Gunpedia is the preferred way to refer to this wiki when you are casually talking about it here. However, in Wikia it should be referred to as the Guns Wiki, its proper name at Wikia. Yes, it can be sometimes confusing, but it works out.
