German Aleksandrovich Korobov (Russian: Герман Александрович Коробов) was a Russian firearms designer who worked for Tula arms. He was known for his unusual and unique rifle designs.

History[]

Korobov was born in 1913 in Samara, Russia. After schooling in 1939, he worked at the TsKB-14 factory in Tula. He died in 2006.

Designs[]

Korobov is well known for having designed many prototype firearms with highly unusual and unorthodox designs. His numerous prototypes include the TKB-059, a three-barreled experimental assault rifle, and the TKB-408, a bullpup assault rifle meant to compete with the AK-47. While these weapons looked and felt rather promising, none of his weapons ever entered any form of service with the Russian Army; most, if not all, of these weapons can be now seen at the Weapons Museum at the Tula Kremlin.
