Elbert Hamilton Searle was a firearms designer.


Searle was born in 1865 in Massachusetts but was based in Philadelphia for his works. He applied a various number of patents for his weapons, such as one for a pistol and another for an air rifle, as well as a single-handed device used to cock a weapon that was never actually made. He died in 1936 at the age of 71.


Searle was well known for his November 21, 1905 patent which became the basis for the Savage Model 1907 and Savage automatic pistol.
