The Desert Tech Hard Target Interdiction is an American bullpup bolt-action anti-materiel rifle.[1]

HistoryEdit

The HTI was developed at the request of specific military companies as a rifle that provides both long range capabilities with "irrevocable penetration". It claims to provide extreme long-distance capabilities in "the most compact package on Earth".

30 HTIs were ordered by the Czech military for use with special forces in March 2017 for use on international operations; the contract also included scopes, 120 replacement barrels, 30 conversion kits for .375 CheyTac and .50 BMG rounds, 21,000 cartridges and additional accessories such as bipods.

Design detailsEdit

The HTI is essentially the military version of the Desert Tech SRS bolt-action sniper rifle; the HTI is actually based on the SRS, albeit scaled up to chamber and handle larger cartridges. The weapon's barrel is free floating and is locked in place using Desert Tech's patented return-to-zero mounting system.

A notable feature of the HTI is its replaceable barrels and caliber conversion; Desert Tech claims that the HTI's barrels and caliber can be changed within sixty seconds. This is done by removing the magazine and bolt, undoing four hex screws on the side and removing the barrel.

There are a total of four conversion kits for the HTI, allowing conversions to and from .375 CheyTac, .408 CheyTac, .416 Barrett and .50 BMG. Each conversion kit comes with a barrel, bolt and magazine.
