Bullet

From Gunpedia

Rimmed centerfire .303 in. cartridge from World War II. An example of one of many types of bullets used around that time.

Bullets, are what are fired from pistols or rifles. Bullets were used throughout the decades in early guns, from the matchlock, to the caplock guns, but they were nothing more than lead balls propelled by the powder in the barrel. Later though, in the 1870's, the first bullet cartridge was created, which is what we use today in our modern firearms.

The bullet cartridge contains three things: the bullet, which is half-encased by the bullet shell, the powder, or propellent, the primer, and the bullet shell. In the gun, once the wielder has pulled the trigger in the gun, a firing hammer, (or firing pin) strikes the explosive primer on the bottom of the bullet, this causes it to detonate, this creates sparks, which ignites the powder, this creates gases in the shell, forcing the bullet out of the shell, and through the barrel at a high speed.
